Harold Kenneth Hilliard (1933 - 2017)



Harold Kenneth Hilliard age 83 died peacefully February 23, 2017 while on hospice in the care of his daughter Robin and son-in-law A.J. He went to heaven to celebrate his 61st wedding anniversary with his wife Ola B. (Pete) Hilliard who passed on Mother's Day May 8, 2016. Born April 5, 1933 to Samuel and Letha Hilliard of Acorn, MO. He attended school and worked the family crops along with 5 brothers and three sisters. June 26, 1950 he joined the US Air Force where he trained as a medical technician. He was selected to attend Independent Duty School where he underwent intense medical training to serve as the only medical person on remote sites. He met Pete while on leave in 1955 in Sikeston, MO. He loved her the first moment he set eyes on her and set his mind to marry her. They married Feb. 25, 1956. He served in the Air Force and Civil Service and for a time held a 3rd job working nights at a truck line to provide a good life for his family. His career culminated at 4th Air Force Headquarters at McClellan AFB, CA. where he retired Apr. 5, 1993 as CMSGT. He is survived by two brothers, two sisters, three daughters, Charlotte Fraser, Paula Price (Mike), Robin Affleck (A.J.), three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Harold was a patriotic, generous and loving man. He loved God, family, country and baseball. The world was a happier place with him in it. Funeral services will be held at Chapel of the Hills, Auburn CA at 1:00 pm on Mar. 8, 2017. The ceremony will be officiated by Rev. Ronald Beams.  I forward this very sad news of the passing of CMSgt (Ret) Harold Hilliard.  As you and many of the     original 919th members may remember, Harold was our original 919th TAG Medical Technician in the     clinic.  He was the Senior NCO for Medical Operations when I was assigned as 4th AF/CC.  He was a     "True Gentleman" and will be missed greatly.  Jimmy Sherrard
