Douglas A. Decker

Douglas “Doug” Arthur Decker, age 82, of Niceville, Florida passed away March 29, 2025. He was born in Amsterdam, New York on September 26, 1942 to the late Dorthy Houser and Elmer Willard Decker. He married his wife Ann Warren Decker on December 2, 1963.

In 1960, Doug joined the United States Air Force as a sheet metal technician. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base where he met his wife. After four years of active duty, he entered the Air Force Reserves as a recruiter. He retired after 33 years of combined active duty and reserve time. Douglas also served  concurrently as an Air Reserve Technician at Duke Field.

Doug was a lifelong Boy Scout Leader in Troop 30 in Crestview. He dedicated his time to the positive development of youth and his family. He retired from civil service in 1999, and from the reserves in 2002. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had an admiration of the Boy Scouts, camping, the outdoors and AC-130 gunships.

Doug is preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, and his son Robert W. Decker. He is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Ann Decker of Niceville, and his two daughters Anne Marie Decker and Donna Elizabeth Harrison of Niceville, two granddaughters, Kaitlynn Harrison and Courtney Harrison, and two great grandchildren, Brayden Ryan and Brinlee Allan.

Doug will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery on the grounds of Naval Air Station Pensacola. A memorial service will be held at Bob Hope Village in Shalimar at a date to be determined.
