CMSgt Frank Bellamy was among the originals that came to Duke in the early seventies who later became Chief of the 919th Training office where he remained until retirement in the mid 80s. Frank was very proud of the 919SOW and served it extremely well during his tenure as a Senior member of the Duke Family.
Another original Duke Pioneer who will truly be missed by all of those that knew him!!!
CMSgt Frank Bellamy passed away on 13January 2023 at the age of 89from pneumonia following Covid.
Frank chose not to have a funeral in Australia. If he had been in USA he would have had a traditional funeral.
The Returned Services League of Australia would have honored him the Australian way which really did not
mean a lot to him. So The family chose not to do that. Frank always said he knew who he was and what he
did and that was enough for him. He was an American to the core who loved his country and was very proud
that he was able to serve it.At his home in Australia the American flag was flown at half mast after he passed
away. CMSgt Bellamy had 21 years of a very happy marriage to Shirley. He presented to people as a quiet man who was very thoughtful but when he made a statement people listened.A wonderful man who loved his country, family and was well read with great knowledge. You may smile about the quiet man because as we all found out that may not have been so in his working.
